How to Appeal Overview

Whether you have already appealed to a Review Tribunal about Canada Pension Plan (CPP) benefits, or you are considering an appeal, this section will help you understand the appeal process and prepare for your hearing.

1. Initiating An Appeal with the OCRT
   • Prepare the Appeal Letter
   • Send the Appeal Letter to OCRT
2. Preparing For the Hearing
   • Receive acknowledgment from the OCRT
   • Receive the Hearing File and the hearing date, time and place from the OCRT
   • Talk to your OCRT Client Service Officer
   • Review the Hearing File
   • Decide whether you want a Representative
   • Prepare your Case
   • Send additional information to the OCRT
   • Obtain approval for long distance travel arrangements
   • Receive Reminder from the OCRT
3. Presenting at the Hearing
   • Show up for the Hearing
   • Participate in the Hearing
