- Q4.1 How does the Review Tribunal reach a decision?
- A4.1 Before the hearing, each Tribunal member reviews a Hearing File that is exactly the same as the one you received. To make their decision, the Tribunal members study all the information in the Hearing File, review any additional information they received before and during the hearing, and consider everything that was said at the hearing. After the hearing, the three members meet and reach a decision based on all the provided information. The Tribunal members will then let the Commissioner of Review Tribunals know in writing what the decision is and the reasons for it. The Commissioner will send you the decision and the reasons for it.
- Q4.2 When do I hear about the decision?
- A4.2 The OCRT always strives to meet our service standard for you to receive the decision within eight weeks of your hearing date. See The Review Tribunal Decision.
- Q4.3 Will I get a transcript of my Review Tribunal hearing?
- A4.3 No. The hearing is not recorded, and there is no transcript. However, you will receive your decision and the reasons for the decision in writing.
- Q4.4 I have new information since receiving my Review Tribunal decision. The Tribunal dismissed my appeal. What do I do?
- A4.4 If you obtain new information after you have received the Review Tribunal decision, here are the possibilities for further action:
If it was an appeal involving CPP:
If your appeal involved CPP benefits, you may ask permission to appeal the Review Tribunal decision to the Pension Appeals Board (see Levels of Appeal - CPP). If you decide to go ahead, you may send the new information you have obtained at the same time as you request your appeal to the Pension Appeals Board.

- A4.5 Send your complaint in writing to the Commissioner of Review Tribunals in writing, or using the complaint form. The Commissioner will respond to all complaints.
