
Richard Makuch has been legal counsel to two major federal tribunals, namely the National Energy Board and the National Transportation Agency. He also has experience as chief legal counsel to a former Ottawa area municipality, where he managed the city’s legal department and represented the city before the Ontario courts and tribunals.
More recently, he has been a member of the Ontario Municipal Board, where he presided over hundreds of hearings pertaining to expropriations and municipal planning issues, as well as acted as a mediator. He has been a volunteer board member to various not for profit organizations in the Ottawa area.
He holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Loyola College in Montreal and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa . He was called to the Ontario Bar in April of 1981 and has practiced law in both the private and public sectors.
